The VII International Course on Massive DATA Analysis is a five day theoretical and practical course on massive data analysis. The course is organized by the Bioinformatics and Genomics Department of the Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe (CIPF) in Valencia, the CIBERER, and the Functional Genomics Node of the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB).
The course is targeted to experimental researchers, post-doctoral and PhD students who want to learn about the state-of-the-art of genomics and transcriptomics data analysis methodologies.
Microarray expression data, genotyping data and next generation sequencing data allows the study of biological processes at an unprecedented level of detail. However, transforming such genomic data into valuable biological information is not an easy task. Data analysis is still a major bottleneck for many researchers which are still applying inadequate statistical methods for the interpretation of their genomic and transcriptomics results.
The aim of this course is to familiarize the students with the latest analysis methodologies and to provide hands-on training on the analytical approaches implemented in advanced software packages such as the Babelomics and the popular Bioconductor package. Lectures and hands-on sessions are taught in the facilities of the CIPF, which provide the ideal environment for the organization of bioinformatic courses. Participants who have already performed transcriptomics or genomics experiments are encouraged to bring their own data to analyze it during the last practical session of the course.
Social activities are organised during the course to favour networking and exchange of experiences among the students, as well as to promote a fruitful dialog between teachers and students.
