The biological Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility is located at the “Institute of Pharmacology and Structural Biology” (IPBS) in Toulouse, a CNRS-funded research center associated with the Paul Sabatier University. This facility provides state of the art NMR equipment to users both locally and region wide. The instrumentation presently available includes four-channel Bruker Avance 500, 600, and 700 MHz NMR spectrometers, devoted to high resolution liquid state and solid state NMR. This equipment associated with a number of probe heads offers a large range of capabibilities in analytical biochemistry and structural biological.
The facility and staff are available for research support to investigators who want to use NMR for structural elucidation and the study of chemical and biological reactions:
Identification and chemical structure of molecules from natural extracts or chemical synthesis.
3D structure determination and dynamics of biological macromolecules (proteins, protein – DNA complexes,
membranes and membrane proteins).
Pharmaceutical applications: ligand screening, active site identification.
Molecular modeling (MM) under NMR constraints and molecular dynamics (MD).
The facility is closely associated with the NMR research team of IPBS (Prof. Milon), developing state of the art researches for the structural analysis of biomolecules by NMR spectroscopy, with a specific focus on membranes and membrane proteins.
The facility and staff are available both for academics and industries, locally and nation wide. The schedule is established on a monthly basis allowing trained users easy access to the spectrometer. Potential new users are encouraged to contact the facility staff for service or scientific collaborations.
Customers: academic laboratories, SMEs/SMIs and larger companies in pharmacology, biotechnology, agro-chemistry, nanotechnology and chemistry
Main domains of applications: biochemistry, chemistry, membrane biophysics, analytical research, microbiology
Equipment and staff:
- 3 Bruker spectrometers: 600 MHz cryoprobe 1H, 13C, 15N, high throughput NMR with flow through probe, 500 MHz and 700 MHz solid and liquid state NMR, multinuclear (1H, 19F, 2H, 15N, 13C, 31P, …), 1D-4D, MAS, static solid state NMR
- 2 dedicated engineers, several researchers from CNRS and Université de Toulouse-UPS
