The IECB technology platform in structural biology includes 6 NMR spectrometers, ranging from 300 to 800 MHz. Through the facility, custom services in liquid and solid NMR are provided to academic and industrial users, based on local scientific expertise:
-
NMR of membrane lipids in the context of bicelles and membrane domains (rafts), atherosclerosis, and cellular signalling (e.g. nano-objects oriented by magnetic fields, sterols and phosphoinositids)
-
Structures of nucleic acids, proteins, and protein/nucleic acid complexes
-
NMR of peptides and membrane proteins involved in cancer, apoptosis or featuring particular antibiotic and antimicrobial properties (e.g.neu/erbB-2, Bax, Bcl-2, melittin, surfactin, cateslytin, etc.)
-
NMR of colloids associated with the food or pharmaceutical industry (e.g. tannins with saliva proteins, lipopeptides with active nebulisable substances)
-
Auto-assembly of amphiphilic molecules
-
Synthesis and activity of natural substances of biological interest (e.g. phenols and quinols)
-
Chemistry of solids, materials and alloys
-
2D, 3D and multidimensional NMR
-
Residual dipolar coupling (RDC)
-
Dynamics, 13C/15N relaxation
One of the distinctive instruments of the platform is the high field 800MHz liquid/solid NMR spectrometer, which is integrated within the French national network of large scale NMR facilities (TGIR-RMN). As part of this network, the instrument is made available for free to international users for 10% of its operating time. Experiment proposals for the 800MHz spectrometer should be submitted online at: www.tgir-rmn.org
In the frame of Interbio, IECB engineers and scientific experts in NMR are willing to set up both collaborative research projects and technical staff exchanges.
